1. Who we are
Expat CPA Tax (expatcpatax.com) is an educational intake platform operated by Real Good Digital LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company. We connect US citizens and green-card holders abroad with qualified US tax preparation services. We are not a tax preparation firm and do not prepare returns ourselves.
2. Our partner firm
Inquiries submitted through this site are fulfilled by Capital Tax Limited (Expat Tax), a tax preparation firm incorporated in Hong Kong that specializes in US expat tax compliance. When you submit a form on this site, your browser sends it directly to Capital Tax Limited, to an endpoint they operate. It does not pass through our servers. Capital Tax Limited is the data controller for what you submit and is responsible for how it is stored, used, and deleted; we are the controller only for the separate records described in Section 4. This is disclosed to you at the point of form submission, in accordance with Hong Kong's Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap. 486), Data Protection Principle 1(3), and US consent requirements.
3. Information we collect
The forms on this site ask for your name, email, phone, country, message and inquiry type. Because the form posts straight to Capital Tax Limited (see Section 2), it is Capital Tax Limited who receives those answers and who captures the technical metadata that comes with the request (IP address, user agent, referer, timestamp) for consent documentation and fraud prevention. That submission does not pass through our servers.
Your browser also attaches session context to that submission before sending it: the page on which you entered the site, the referring site or search engine (including campaign/UTM parameters if you arrived through a tagged link), the page language, and how long the form took to complete. This context is transmitted directly to Capital Tax Limited together with your inquiry. We keep this context in your browser's local storage; it expires after about 30 minutes of inactivity and is not a tracking cookie.
For analytics we use cookieless Cloudflare Web Analytics, which measures aggregate traffic and sets no cookies. With your consent, given through our consent banner, we also use Google Analytics (operated by Google LLC), which sets analytics cookies to measure how visitors use the site; it is off by default and you can decline or withdraw at any time using the banner. We do not use cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking.
4. How we use information
The site's job is to put your inquiry in front of Capital Tax Limited; the submission itself goes to them, not to us. What we keep is an attribution record required by our publisher agreement, so that we can be paid for introductions: a lead identifier, the date, which site and page it came from, and the commercial status and amounts. That record carries no name, email address or telephone number. We also use aggregate analytics to improve the site. We do not sell your personal information.
5. Contact consent
By checking the consent boxes on our forms, you authorize Capital Tax Limited to contact you at the phone number and email provided about your US tax inquiry. Consent is not required as a condition of any purchase or service. You may withdraw consent by emailing [email protected].
6. Cross-border transfer
Capital Tax Limited is incorporated in Hong Kong and processes inquiry data there, so submitting a form sends your information to Hong Kong. Because your browser posts it to Capital Tax Limited directly rather than through us, the data reaches them without an onward transfer by Real Good Digital LLC. Hong Kong is not the subject of a European Commission adequacy decision, and how Capital Tax Limited safeguards the data once it holds it is governed by their own privacy policy and by Hong Kong's Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap. 486). If you would rather not send information to Hong Kong, do not use the forms: email us instead using the address in Section 10 and we will tell you what your options are.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to our processing of your personal information, and to receive it in a portable form. Contact [email protected] and we will coordinate with Capital Tax Limited as appropriate. Because Capital Tax Limited is the controller for form submissions, a request about what you submitted may need to be answered by them; we will pass it on and tell you that we have.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, in particular in the country of your habitual residence, place of work, or the place where you believe the issue arose. In the United Kingdom that authority is the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk). You do not have to contact us first.
8. Legal basis and data retention
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, Capital Tax Limited processes the personal information and technical metadata submitted through our intake forms as the data controller under its own lawful bases and privacy policy. Our separate processing of site analytics and publisher attribution records (described in Section 4) is conducted under our legitimate interest to manage, secure, and operate the platform; where optional analytics consent is given through our banner, that processing rests on your consent, which you may withdraw at any time.
We retain the lead attribution record described in Section 4 for as long as it is needed for the obligations under our publisher agreement, and delete or anonymize it after that. Retention of the inquiry itself is Capital Tax Limited's decision, under their policy, because they are its controller.
9. California residents (CCPA / CPRA)
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act) gives you additional rights regarding your personal information, including the right to know, delete, and correct personal information, and the right to non-discrimination. We do not sell or share personal information as defined by the CPRA.
10. Contact
Privacy inquiries: [email protected]. General intake: contact form.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy periodically. The "Last updated" date reflects the most recent revision. If we make material changes to how personal information is handled, we will post prominent notice on the site prior to the changes taking effect.
